An internship can increase your understanding of a chosen field, enhance your academic experience, expand your network and provide you with a new perspective beyond the classroom. Studies show that students with proven job skills and related work experience gained from internships are valuable assets to employers on a resume and can even lead to a higher starting salary. Moreover, three of the top personal qualities employers seek are communication skills, leadership, and teamwork, all of which can be developed during an internship.
