What You Need to Know—And When You Need to Know It


Activating your Chapman Student Account

  • Shortly after receiving your offer of admission, an email is sent from our Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) department to the email address listed on your application. It outlines how to activate your Student Account and access to my.chapman.edu. If it has been more than two weeks since your acceptance, please contact the IS&T Service Desk at
    (714) 997-6600 or servicedesk@chapman.edu for this information.
  • You will use this username/password to register online and access your my.chapman.edu student information system. 

Setting up your PantherMail E-mail Account

  • Once you are admitted, all official e-mails from Chapman (including information on your specific registration date and time) will be sent to your Chapman e-mail account.
  • Set up your new e-mail account, using the instructions outlined in the email from our Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) department after being granted admission.

 

Important Dates

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for Financial Aid Processing Due
March 2, 2017 - and on-going on a funds available basis

The priority deadline for filing the FAFSA is March 2. If the priority deadline is not met you may still apply, but funding for certain aid programs may be exhausted.

Housing Application and Reservation Payment Deadline
May 15, 2017 - and on-going on a funds available basis

On campus housing is not guaranteed for incoming transfer students however we do encourage those that are interested in living on campus to submit online through the Chapman Housing Portal by May 15 for priority processing. Your housing application must be submitted with a non-refundable $500 reservation payment that will reserve your spot. This reservation payment is separate from the enrollment deposit and will be used as a payment applied to your housing costs. The Office of Residence Life will continue to accept late housing applications and deposits on a space available basis.

Preparing for Registration Email 
Mid-May - and on-going 

Provides information on summer advising options and course registration. Note: all registration is done online in July, but students must complete academic advising prior to their assigned registration date. Deposited transfer students must complete the online advising tutorial in order to schedule an individual appointment with an academic advisor. Individual appointments can be done over the phone or in person.

Transfer Enrollment Deposit Deadline
June 1, 2017

Applicable to incoming transfer students to the fall semester. Deposit online here or by sending a non-refundable $200 check and completed Student Enrollment Deposit Agreement Form.

Student ID Photo Submission 
June - July 2017 

Submit a recent photo to be used for your Chapman University student identification card by the end of July, prior to attending Orientation in August. Submitting your photo is highly recommended, especially for students who intend to live on campus.

New Student Welcome Receptions 
June - July 2017 

Receptions are held throughout the summer all over the country to welcome new students and their families into the Chapman Family. The website will be updated with dates for summer 2017 mid-spring. 

Academic Advising 
June - July 2017 

Transfer students must complete their academic advising requirement prior to course registration in order to remove their registration hold.

Math Placement Testing 
June - July 2017 

Placement testing is completed online for those students who wish to be placed into a higher level math course. Any student who scored below a 570 on the SAT/Math (or 540 for tests prior to March 2016) or below 23 on the ACT/Math is required to take the Algebra Placement Test. 

Foreign Language Placement Testing 
June - July 2017 

Students seeking higher placement (above 101 level) in a foreign language may take the placement exam. Language placement tests are available in Spanish, French, Italian, Latin, German and Japanese. Placement testing is available for Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese and Sign Language by appointment in the World Languages and Cultures department.

Registration for Classes 

All incoming students will be assigned a specific date and time when they can begin registering for courses. Those dates will be available online in your My.Chapman Student Center in early June, and registration will take place in July.

Housing Assignment Information and Notification Email 
Mid-July 

The Housing Assignment Notification email sent to your Chapman email account provides housing information, which includes your housing assignment, roommates' names and contact information, among other helpful information to assist you with your move to the residence community.

Orientation for Transfer Students and their families begins
August 24, 2017 - August 27, 2017 
(Family / Parents / Partners - August 24)

Orientation begins after move-in for transfer students and their families. All new students are expected to attend orientation. The program familiarizes incoming students with the academic and social aspects of Chapman University.

Parking Fee Waiver Deadline

All students are automatically billed for a parking pass. If you do not plan to park a vehicle on-campus you must complete the online waiter for a refund on your student account.
