What You Need to Know—And When You Need to Know It

Academic Program Evaluation

For those students coming in with college work either from two or four year institutions and/or with AP or IB exam results that have been submitted, please refer to your Program Evaluation that you can access through your Web Advisor account. This Program Evaluation will list the remaining general education and major related courses left to complete at Chapman. For units still currently in progress or for AP and/or IB exams that have not yet been submitted, please note that the Program Evaluation will continue to update as additional transcripts and test scores are submitted  through the Office of Admission. Please contact the Office of Admission with any questions regarding your Program Evaluation.

Financial Aid

If you applied for financial aid, you should receive your Financial Aid Award letter two to three weeks after you have been admitted.  If you have not filed a 2013-2014 FAFSA, you may still do so by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Chapman’s Financial Aid code is 001164.  Students who want to receive information for grants, educational loans and Work Study must file a FAFSA form.

Final College Transcripts 

Don’t forget to submit all college course work through end of fall of 2013. Official sealed transcripts can be mailed to Chapman University, Office of Admission, One University Dr. Orange, CA 92866

AP and IB Exam Results

If you have completed AP (Advanced Placement) or IB (International Baccalaureate) exams you should submit an official test score report to possibly receive college credit.  College credit will only be considered for scores that come directly from the College Board or the International Baccalaureate Organization and meet certain achievement standards. New Student and Family Orientation

Although not required, this program is strongly encouraged for both incoming freshman and transfer students as well as their families.  Participation will help you familiarize yourself with the academic and social aspects of Chapman University. Mailings regarding Orientation will start to go out in late December/early January with RSVP instructions.

Transfer Enrollment Deposit Deadline
Applicable to incoming transfers only. You can make the deposit online here or by sending a non-refundable $200 check and completed student enrollment deposit agreement form to the Office of Admission. Please note that if you have not received your admission decision by December 1st the enrollment deposit deadline will be extended for you.

December 1
Housing Applications Submission Due
Housing applications must be submitted online or postmarked by December 1 for first priority processing and submitted with a non-refundable $50 housing application fee and $600 security deposit (This deposit is separate from the enrollment deposit.) Applications submitted without an application fee and a housing deposit will not be processed or considered for an assignment. Housing applications cannot be submitted until and admission decision has been made. Transfer admission offers will extend into December/January. Housing applications will continue to be accepted on a space available basis after December 1. Transfer housing is not guaranteed but interested transfer students are encouraged to apply. For more information you can go to www.chapman.edu/studentLife/resLife/.  Housing notifications will be sent out by mid-January to those students that have applied.

December 5
Academic Advising Letter to new spring students
This letter will provide information to you about your spring advising options and course registration procedures. Transfer students are not required but highly encouraged to receive academic advising from their Academic Advising Center’s (AAC) advisor and their major program advisor prior to registering for courses. December 6
Deposited students who have completed the online advising tutorial can begin to call the Academic Advising Center to schedule an advising appointment.

  • Student I.D. Photo Submission Submit a recent photo to be used for your Chapman University student identification card by the end of December (recommended).

  • Health Record and Examination Form
    All students are required to submit the online Student Health Services form. It can be accessed online here.

  • Math Placement Testing
    Placement testing is completed online for those students who wish to be placed into a higher level math course. Any student who scored below a 500 on the SAT/Math or below 21 on the ACT/Math is REQUIRED to take the Algebra Placement Test.

December 10
Advising appointments begin for new students who have completed the online advising tutorial.

December 16
New student registration begins. All new students will be assigned a specific date and time when they can begin registering for courses. Those dates will be available on Web Advisor in early December. Registration will continue through the start of the spring semester.

December 31, 2013
Spring Semester Billing Statement E-mailed 
You will receive a billing statement that details tuition and other charges for the upcoming semester.

The Housing Assignment information and Notification Email provides students with housing information, which includes their housing assignment, roommates’ names and contact information, and other helpful information to assist students with their move to the residence community.
