»SafetyWatch

SafetyWatch is a program intended to encourage faculty, staff and students to report behaviors of concern by a Chapman student which may affect the community as a whole, either by safety concerns for the individual or for others. It is not intended to replace the university’s emergency response in cases of serious and immediate threats of suicide or harm against others; rather it is intended to bring to the attention of key administrators behaviors that may identify individuals who could benefit from an intervention that could prevent such serious events.

Examples include:

  • Veiled statements of threat to harm oneself or others
  • Patterns of bizarre behaviors or actions
  • Repeated disruption to the living or learning community
  • Harassment
  • Repeated outbursts of anger towards others

This is not a complete list.

This report  is designed to help the student, not cause disciplinary action. The report is confidential to the extent permitted by law, and will be reviewed by a campus emergency team in order to determine how best to help the student.
