»Self Assessment

Before your job search or while deciding on a major, the Career Development Center recommends doing self assessments. Self-assessments are a critically important part of the career development process, and can be accomplished through self reflection, the guidance of a career counselor, and/or career assessments.

Sometimes career assessment "tests" are useful tools for helping people understand their interests, skills, values and personality more clearly, but they are not foolproof diagnostic tools that tell you what you should be or what you major you should pursue.

The Career Development Center primarily uses the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. If you are interested in taking a career assessment, first visit their independent websites to determine whether or not you feel they would be beneficial, then come in for Quick Questions to talk to a career counselor and determine which assessment is most appropriate for you.
