Before we get started, you should become familiar with the language of the University. The following are some terms that will be used frequently throughout this tutorial, and their definitions.
»University Vocabulary
+-Baccalaureate Degree
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.)
- Bachelor of Music (B.M.)
+-Class Standing
- Freshman (0-29 units earned)
- Sophomore (30-59 units earned)
- Junior (60-89 units earned)
- Senior (90+ units earned)
+-Credits or Units
Most classes are 3 credits, but there are some exceptions. Physical activity courses are usually .5-1 credit; science courses with a lab are usually 4 credits; music and dance classes can be 1-2 credits.
+-Lower Division or Upper Division
WebAdvisor will not allow freshmen to register for upper division courses.
Transfer students who have earned 30+ credits prior to matriculation at Chapman will be allowed to register for 300 level courses.
+-Prerequisite
A prerequisite is a course that must be completed prior to enrolling in another course. You can find the course prerequisites on WebAdvisor or in the University catalog.
