Whether a new freshman or transfer student, we would like to welcome you to Chapman University! The Academic Advising Center is committed assisting you throughout your time at Chapman. Our mission is to coordinate and support an advising program that consistently provides students with information and counsel they need to develop sound educational goals, and to make effective decisions about University courses and programs that will enable them to realize those goals.
Chapman University offers a range of academic advising services to support your academic planning, assist with registration, and address your individual interests and needs. While each department and office provides its own unique service, we all work together to provide assistance and resources for Chapman students. It is important that you make regular contact with your advisors.
First Semester Advising:
Academic advising for new students begins the first week of June. New students enrolling in fall 2013 have the option of completing in-person advising or online advising.
- In-person advising for incoming fall semester FRESHMEN takes place in small group sessions only (NO individual appointments).
- In-person advising for incoming TRANSFER students takes place in individual appointments only.
- Online advising (for freshmen or transfer students) is available for students who are not local to the Southern California area and those who are comfortable receiving important information in an electronic environment.
FRESHMEN STUDENTS: Incoming fall semester FRESHMEN will not be scheduled for individual advising appointments. They must either complete online advising or attend a small group advising session in June or July. All incoming freshmen have an advising hold on their account and must complete MANDATORY academic advising (either online or individual appointment) prior to registering for courses.
TRANSFER STUDENTS: Advising for new transfer students is not required, but is highly recommended. All TRANSFER students are encouraged to come to campus and meet with an advisor during an individual appointment.
