»Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems

Chapman is one of the few universities in the nation that offers this program, which combines the strengths of the School of Computational Sciences with those of the Argyros school of Business and Economics to create a hybrid computer information systems degree wherein students develop the ability to design and manage the computer infrastructure of a business. Dubbed “the high tech business degree,” faculty members (who are also working scientists) introduce students to the world of cloud computing, analytics, and mobile apps, thereby giving them a technical leg up in the financial sector.

Internships are critical for a degree of this nature, and the school’s resources have led past students to study at Boeing, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon and Toyota.

The degree in computer information systems prepares students for careers in:

  • systems analysis
  • systems design
  • network security
  • database design
  • programming
  • project leadership
  • systems management
Alumni currently work in many different kinds of companies, including Boeing, Northwestern Mutual, IMS,  and U.S. Technical Services.

Are you a Business Administration Major?

If you are a Business Administration major, the courses you will take in your freshman year are very much the same as the courses you would take as a computer information systems major.  We encourage you to keep your options open by also taking CPSC 230- Introduction to Computer Science.

Most Computer Information Systems Majors are former Business Administration majors who realize the importance of adding technical skills to their knowledge of business practices.

Computer Science Industry Advisory Board

The Mission of the Chapman University Computer Science Industry Advisory Board is to create and develop a partnership between the Chapman University Computer Science faculty and leaders of the technology industry in Southern California.
