Safety Tips

  1. PROGRAM DPS NUMBERS INTO YOUR PHONE - Within the Chapman community the Department of Public Safety can respond to emergencies much faster than other local law enforcement.   Emergency: 911, Non Emergency: (714) 997-6763, or *22 from any campus payphone to contact the Department of Public Safety.

  2. REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY -   Criminals do not want to be seen or heard.  For that reason they rarely commit crime in front of law enforcement officers.  We rely on the community to contact us when suspicious persons or activities occur.   We would much rather respond and not be needed than to not be called when something could have been prevented.  Trust your instincts; if something does not feel right, it probably isn’t.

  3. SECURE PROPERTY AND LOCK YOUR DOORS – Criminals often look for the path of least resistance; they will typically move onto another easier target if they encounter locked doors or property is not in plain sight.
