Biography

Susie Thompson grew up in Seattle, Washington, but left the rainy skies and cold weather to attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas for her undergraduate degree. She graduated with honors and received a B.A. in RTF (Radio-Television-Film) and a minor in Japanese. Thompson was a Division 1 NCAA walk-on varsity athlete for the SMU Rowing Team. She earned a full rowing scholarship and become a three-time captain. She was named most valuable novice rower, most inspirational rower, and a national scholar athlete in 2005.

In 2006, Thompson moved to Austin, Texas and began working for Dell throughout several departments. As a senior training analyst, Thompson led training classes for multiple business and consumer segments, domestically and internationally in Texas, Florida, and Manila, Philippines. She helped implement a new quality program, establish a new customer care center overseas, and led weekly meetings with associates in India and Philippines through online and video conferencing.

In 2008, Thompson moved to Southern California. She became involved with the AMVETS Legal Clinic and Military Policy Institute while attending law school at Chapman University School of Law. While in law school, she earned a CALI highest achievement award in Legal Research and Writing. She received her J.D. in 2011. After graduation, Thompson worked at the AMVETS Legal Clinic as a post-graduate research assistant and participated in the first Orange County Stand-Down for homeless veterans.  Within a few months, she became a Post-Doctoral Clinical Fellow. In her fellowship at the Clinic, she has worked on TSGLI claims, VA Benefits, Discharge Upgrades, appeals to the ABCMR and the Court of Federal Claims, as well as various civil matters.

Thompson is admitted to the California Bar and the United States District Court, Central District of California
