- Atmospheric pollution over megacities
- Visualizing and Analyzing Earth Science data
- Interdisciplinary studies in Earth system science, including precipitation and climate Phenomena coupling.
- Dust storms monitoring using multisensor approaches.
- Change detections and Land use/land cover assessments.
- Model coupling with remote sensing for dust storms detection.
- Remote sensing of marine pollution and coral reefs.
- Studying climate trends and climate change impact on sea level rive over lowlands.

- Saudi Arabia Prize for Best Published Article in Environmental Management among 150 articles from the Arab Administrative Development Organization, affiliated with the League of Arab States, 2006
- Faculty of Science Award for winning the Saudi Arabia Prize for the best article in Environmental Management, 2006
