Lauren Bevilacqua
BM Music Therapy
Class of 2008

Lauren Bevilacqua, a Music Therapy major, is in her third year at Chapman University. Born and raised in Gilroy, California, she began her musical journey with the piano, studying under noted pianist, Maria Amirkhanian.

Flute was the instrument of choice in elementary school, then graduating to the tuba in middle school and high school. Besides involvement in the orchestra, Lauren was able to expand her musical knowledge by playing keyboard as part of a contemporary liturgical group and participating in many musical theater productions. The opportunity to conduct “the pit” for the high schools production of “Into The Woods” led her to receive the “Outstanding Student Conductor” award presented by American Musical Theater of San Jose.

At Chapman she is principal tuba in the Chapman Wind Symphony, plays in the Symphonic Orchestra and provides piano accompaniment for various student recitals and master classes. As president of the Music Therapy Association, Lauren hopes to expand awareness of the group campus wide as well as in the community at large. Upon graduating she plans to further her studies on the east coast working towards a Doctorate in Music Therapy.
