  • CAREER SERVICES

Due to an ABA rule, the Career Services Office cannot offer first year students individual appointments until after November 1. Employers are not allowed to individually discuss job possibilities until after December 1. But, first year students are allowed to attend Career Services sponsored events and programs before the regulating dates.
  • LIMIT ON EMPLOYMENT

ABA standards require full-time students to devote substantially all working hours to the study of law. Students shall not engage in remunerative employment for more than 20 hours per week if you have registered for 12 or more credit hours, whether outside or inside the law school.
  • HONOR CODE & UNIVERSITY CONDUCT CODE

All law students are subject to the Chapman University School of Law Honor Code and the University Conduct Code in the Student Handbook.
  • GOOD STANDING

In order to remain in good standing in the Full-Time Divisions, a student must: 1) Have attained a cumulative grade point average of at least 1.6 at the conclusion of the first semester of the first year; and 2) Have attained a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 at the conclusion of the second semester of the first year.
  • Probation and Dismissal

A first-year student whose cumulative grade point average falls below 2.0, but over 1.6, by the conclusion of the first semester of the first year will be placed on academic probation. At the conclusion of the second semester of the first year, a student whose cumulative grade point average falls below 2.0 shall be dismissed from the law school.
  • ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION

The Registrar's Office processes enrollment verifications for lenders, employers, and insurance companies. Enrollment can be verified one semester at a time. Students who require verification of enrollment for their lenders should be aware that new deferment forms will be required each semester. Do not hesitate to contact the Registrar's Office if the deferment needs to be resubmitted or faxed. There is no charge to fax deferment forms.
  • ATTENDANCE

Students are required to attend class meetings in the courses for which they have registered, and to be prepared to participate in the class discussion. Any student who has been absent from more than 20% of class meetings shall not further participate in class, shall not be allowed to sit for the final examination, and shall be given a grade of 'FW.' Students are cautioned that individual faculty may impose a higher attendance standard.
