»Legal Analysis Workshop

The Legal Analysis Workshop, a three unit, graded course, will focus on the analysis and drafting of legal documents commonly prepared during the first few years of law practice and tested on the California Bar Exam, including:

  • memoranda
  • briefs
  • correspondence
  • declarations
  • separate statements in support of motions for summary judgment/adjudication
  • discovery plans
  • written discovery

The course will also focus on the identification of client issues and the use of case precedent to predict the outcome of client problems.

Enrollment in this course is available to all upper-class students, but preference is given to students who are required to take the course (those in the bottom 25% of their class) and students in their last semester of law school. A maximum of 35 students in each section will be admitted and there are two sections available each semester. There will be two graded 3-hour midterm examinations, a 3 hour final examination and several ungraded assignments.

Interested students may contact Professor Mainero at mmainero@chapman.edu, or at x2518, or in person in Room 439.
