Bar Association Membership for Students
There are many different bar associations students may join that can assist in their professional development and networking. View a list of bar associations with free student memberships.
Orange County Bar Association (OCBA)
How to become a member:
For the 2014-15 academic year, Fowler School of Law has already purchased student memberships with the Orange County Bar Association for all currently enrolled students. If you have not received an e-mail with your membership information by the end of October 2014, please contact the OCBA’s membership department.
Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) and Other Bar Associations
How to become a member:
If students can show that they would derive a greater benefit from LACBA or another bar association, the Career Services Office will consider sponsoring their membership to such organization. If students want the Fowler School of Law to renew their membership for a second year in LACBA, they must demonstrate to the Career Services Office that they participated in some bar association events or were otherwise active in the bar association in the previous year.
+-Business Card Orders
The Career Services Office encourages all students to have business cards. Business cards can be a valuable networking tool. Orders for Chapman business cards are only placed at the beginning of each semester: in September for the fall; in January for the spring.
+-Mixers and Networking Events
Chapman University Fowler School of Law Events:
The Fowler School of Law regularly sponsors a variety of events including the Chapman Dialogue series, Chapman En Banc, symposiums and panels.
Bar Associations/Professional Organizations:
Visit the calendar section on the association/organization website to identify upcoming mixers and events. If there is not a calendar section, you can often request to be added to their listserv distribution.
Conference & Career Fairs
There are many conferences and career fairs held throughout the year. The CSO posts some external events on the Calendar of Events.
