Orange County is the country's fifth largest county with nearly 3 million people, 40% of which are ethnic populations.

Many of America's largest corporations call Orange County their home or their U.S. headquarters, including Allergan, Apria Healthcare, Beckman Coulter, Broadcom, CKE Restaurants (Carl's and Hardy's), Conexant Systems, Ford Motor Co.'s Premier Automotive Group, KIA Motors America, Mazda North America, and Oakley. A rapidly growing high-tech base, offering 80,000 jobs, includes Ingram Micro and Western Digital.

Chapman is also located in Old Towne Orange, which is a historic residential neighborhood with coffee shops, theaters, libraries and restaurants within walking distance of campus.
