Rideshare Incentives
Coordinated by Human Resources
The recent announcement that Chapman will offer a limited number of ridesharing incentives for the very first time this fall has elicited quite a number of helpful suggestions about various kinds of programs we should consider. While we would like to be in a position to implement suggestions about pedestrians, cyclists, occasional rideshare participants and other excellent program ideas, to get started we will stick to the basics. We will continue to take suggestions from the community and, with the benefit of additional time, we expect to expand these initial rideshare incentive program. Here is a brief description of our new rideshare programs:
CARPOOLS FULL-TIME FACULTY, STAFF AND COMMUTER STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM
Panther Plus Program – offered to a limited number of participants on a first-come, first served basis:
Minimum of 3 people who are full-time Chapman University staff, faculty, or commuter students. Must be committed to carpooling at least 3 days per week.

PUBLIC TRANSIT FULL AND PART-TIME FACULTY, STAFF AND COMMUTER STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE PROGRAMS
Chapman U-Pass Plan for OCTA Bus Riders
Faculty, staff, and commuter students who join the Chapman U-Pass plan will be eligible for the “$1 per ride” program. The maximum monthly cost for staff and faculty is $55, and $37 for students. The actual cost is based on the number of rides during the month. Sign up by sending an email to Human Resources at hroffice@chapman.edu. After the email requests are received, 28 people, chosen at random by a simple lottery, will receive an incentive of up to $25 per month based on ridership during the month.
Metrolink Corporate Pass Program
The Metrolink Corporate Pass Program allows Chapman University staff, faculty, and commuter students to purchase their Metrolink Monthly and 10-trip passes onsite. The cost varies depending on the distance traveled to reach the Orange station that services our campus. Chapman will provide subsidies of $40 to Monthly pass subscribers for 60 people who reserve passes by emailing Human Resources at hroffice@chapman.edu. A simple lottery will then be used to randomly choose the 60 winners. Passes must be reserved no later than 5:00pm on the 12th of each month for passes effective the following month.
OTHER INCENTIVES
Chapman University full-time staff, faculty, and commuter students who do not bring a vehicle to campus because they ride their bikes, or walk, or whose carpools do not qualify for the Panther Plus carpool program, will be eligible to receive 1 entry for each work/school day toward periodic prize drawings as recognition for their “green” efforts.
Prizes for the drawings will include gift items, as well as gift cards for gasoline, restaurants, bookstores, cinemas, coffee houses, bicycle stores, athletic shoe stores, etc.
