Rick Christophersen, M.A.

Rick Christophersen was appointed as administrative director of the College of Performing Arts in June 2011. Rick previously served as director of the Conservatory of Music from 2007-2011, and has worked at Chapman University since March 2001. Prior to his tenure at Chapman, Rick worked ten years in the business world as a mortgage lender, an investor relations conduit and as a financial portfolio manager. Rick's business experience and extracurricular involvement in the arts allowed him to venture into the career field of Arts Management.
Rick’s duties in the College of Performing Arts are far reaching and include managing day-to-day operations, directing financial operations, curriculum planning, facilities management, admission and recruitment coordination, donor stewardship, managing faculty and student concerns, coordinating scheduling, marketing, publicity and promotion of performing arts events, managing guest artist visits and special donor related events. Rick assists the chairs and dean in long range planning for the College of Performing Arts. Other aspects of Rick's job are to represent the College of Performing Arts at campus wide administrative meetings, donor events, performances, and student recruitment events.
As an alumnus of Chapman University with dual degrees in Music and French, with study in Italian and Art History, Rick always knew his ultimate goal was to work in the field of Arts Management. Outside of the office, Rick recently completed four years of service on the board of directors of the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra. He is a past member of the board of directors of the South Coast Chorale. Rick sang with the South Coast Chorale (1995-2002) and the William Hall Chorale (2001-2004). He is an avid traveler, having visited many exotic destinations in recent years. Rick enjoys time with his family and friends, cooking, collecting wine, museum visits, photography, and attends many musical performances throughout the Southern California area.
Rick received his Master's Degree in Arts Management from Claremont Graduate University.
