History and Vision

The Fish Interfaith Center is named in honor of the Rev. Dr. Merle and Marjorie Fish. In addition to serving many years as a professor of sociology at several colleges, the late Dr. Fish (Class of ’40) was a senior minister for Disciples and United Church of Christ congregations, among them the North Hollywood Christian Church.

The Wallace All Faiths Chapel is named in honor of the Rev. Ray and Pauline Wallace, parents of Ann Wallace Fisher (Class of ’64), and her husband, George Fisher. The late Rev. Wallace was a retired Disciples minister who served the North Hollywood Christian Church, among others.

The Wilkinson Founders Chapel is named in honor of J.E. and Flora Scott Wilkinson, parents of Harmon Wilkinson (Class of ’35), and his wife, Nadine Wilkinson (Class of ’44). J.E. Wilkinson made the first gift to the chapel construction fund in memory of his wife, Flora. In addition to serving as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Chapman University for many years, he was interim president for one year. Harmon followed his father on the Board of Trustees serving as chair of the academic committee for many years.
