+-The Center for World Indigenous Studies

The Center for World Indigenous Studies attempts to foster better understanding between peoples through the publication and distribution of literature written and voiced by leading contributors from fourth world nations and promote communication between these nations. A variety of resources are available through the Fourth World Bookstore, including audio tapes, books, occasional papers and issues of the Fourth World Journal.

+-Indigenous Peoples’ Human Rights

The Indigenous Peoples’ Human Rights project, a joint venture of the University of Minnesota Human Rights Center and the International Indian Treaty Council, is working to train activists (particularly young people) to understand indigenous peoples’ human rights and learn effective advocacy and organizing skills. It also creates and distributes indigenous peoples’ human rights resources via electronic, print media and multi-media. The website features an Indigenous People Human Rights Introduction, treaties and other key documents, a set of case studies and links to other sources of information.

+-National Museum of the American Indian

The National Museum of the American Indian is the newest part of the Smithsonian Institute. Schools and teachers are encouraged to use the education pages of the website to plan tours for students to the museum.  The site states: Take a journey through time and back again. Go to far off lands and Native villages from the Arctic tundra to steamy tropical rainforests, follow a footpath to the deep canyon floor and push through lush green woodlands. Visit with people whose communities ring with celebrations of song, dance, feasting and honor…
