Action Against Hunger acts worldwide in over 40 countries in the fight against hunger. Its ultimate goal is to help vulnerable populations gain sufficiency for long term sustainability. The site has a research page about world hunger and a resource page that offers information about general malnutrition and country-specific resources. The links page gives a number of other sites that have information about world hunger.

+-Bread for the World

Bread for the World is a nationwide Christian citizens movement seeking justice for the world’s hungry people by lobbying the nation’s decision makers. The site contains information about current events, global statistics about world hunger and a number of resources available through the online store. There are curriculum guides for grades 4-6 and 7-9 entitled, Make Hunger History: Teaching about Hunger.

+-Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger

At the Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger site there are sample materials and lessons for exploring the problems of hunger, malnutrition and food insecurity. There is an interactive forum for exchanging ideas and experiences. Three downloadable lessons are provided for each of three levels: primary, intermediate and secondary. The following topics are covered: What are hunger and malnutrition, and who are the hungry? Why are people hungry and malnourished? What can we do to help end hunger? Teachers are encouraged to use the lessons and share their adaptations.

Food First produces books, reports, articles, films, electronic media and curricula, plus interviews, lectures, workshops and academic courses for the public, policy makers, activists, the media, students, educators and researchers. In addition, the site has a resource library of links to other organizations, including ones focused upon human rights, environment, labor, social and economic justice, sustainable agriculture, hunger, poverty, biotech, international development and globalization.

+-Freedom from Hunger

Freedom from Hunger brings innovative and sustainable self-help solutions to the fight against hunger and poverty. It gives women living in poverty cash, credit and training to combat chronic hunger. The site has information about malnutrition and about the work of the organization. It also has links to over thirty more organizations that deal with hunger, malnutrition and poverty.

+-Hunger in the World

The Utah Education Network site includes an entire unit on World Hunger, with background information and classroom materials. The lessons are active and feature a wide variety of approaches, including simulations, map activities, and brainstorming. It is an outstanding resource because it is quite explicit and easy to implement.

+-The Hunger Project

The Hunger Project is a strategic organization and global movement committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. It seeks to improve the lives of people in developing nations by providing them, especially women, with training and credits necessary to end hunger. It produces a newsletter and other publications that provide information about hunger and combating hunger in various parts of the world.

+-Kids Can Make A Difference

Kids Can Make A Difference is an educational program for middle and high school students focused on the root causes of hunger and poverty, the people most affected, solutions and how students can help. The site provides news, hunger facts, suggested books, a sample lesson from the teacher guide and much more. A newsletter is published three times a year. It highlights current hunger initiatives, and feature’s teachers’ experiences teaching the KIDS program. The Teacher Guide, Finding Solutions to Hunger: Kids Can Make A Difference, gives students understanding of the pain of hunger; the importance of food; the inequality of its distribution; the links between poverty, hunger, joblessness and homelessness; and gives them the skills to take what they have learned into their communities.

+-World Health Organization – Nutrition for Health and Development

This WHO-Nutrition site has a general overview of malnutrition and its determinants. It gives information about various food programs and policies in different countries as well as current research on malnutrition and food programs. The site also has a link to a variety of publications and documents on world hunger and malnutrition as well as a Global Database on Child Growth and Malnutrition.
