Workshops Details

MAPs: 2 Year Academic Planning

The Academic Advising Center (AAC) and the Argyros School of Business holds many sessions of My Academic Plan (MAP) to assist students with planning for the first two years and next semester’s registration. It is recommended that each student take the MAPs session, then schedule an appointment with their program advisor at the Arygros School, and follow up with an appointment at the Academic Advising Center.  In order to see an advisor in the Academic Advising Center students will first need to attend a MAPs session.

Changing to a Business / Economics / Accounting Major

Choosing a major can be challenging and requires careful consideration. Declaring a major in the Argyros School comes with a rigorous set of course requirements. Students seeking to add or change to Accounting, Business, or Economics major should attend this workshop to learn about the process and tasks required for a signature from the Assistant Dean to officially become an Argyros School Student.

Graduation Road: 4 Year Academic Planning

To support students on the road to graduation this workshop will help will planning the last two years of a student’s academic plan. Other important topics such as internships, academic artifacts, Chapman resources will be discussed.

Group Advising: Transfer Student Success

This small group session will help transfer students new to Chapman learn about the academic policies/procedures specific to transfers. Other important topics such as club involvement, internships, and Chapman resources will be discussed.

Resume and Cover Letter Overview Workshop

The purpose of the resume and cover letter writing overview workshop is to: (1) provide an overview of the importance of effective communication as a necessary tool for success in today’s job market and workplace, (2) describe best practices and challenges of effective resume preparation, and (3) formatting and content skills required when preparing employer-specific cover letters as a means of gaining visibility.

Networking and Interviewing Workshop

The networking and interviewing workshop is designed to: (1) de-mystify what networking is, how it works and its value towards entering and advancing a career, (2) examine the most prevalent types of interview formats, their purpose and how to prepare, and (3) explain how networking and interviewing are aligned as two of the most important skills necessary to achieve professional success.
