Assistant Director of Admission Communication
Biography in Brief:
Born and raised in Orange County, Calif., Matt is a proud product of the Santa Ana public school system. He came to Chapman as a broadcast journalism major, but quickly realized he had a knack for writing that led to his degree in English with an emphasis in journalism. After graduating from Chapman in 1998, Matt spent eight years in magazine publisher as an editor for both weekly and monthly trade magazines in Orange County. During this time, he had the opportunity to work for a home entertainment magazine, Home Media Magazine, where he wrote more than 300 film reviews, but truly found his calling at a leading education technology magazine THE Journal, where he managed the magazine and website for five years. This ignited Matt's passion for education, which led him back to Chapman in 2006. During his time at Chapman, Matt has been fortunate to work as an editor for Chapman Magazine, serve as the university's first web editor, run the communication and outreach efforts of the alumni association, and finally found his home in the Office of Admission. During his career he has written for an array of publications, including The Orange County Register and American Cheerleader Magazine. When he's not in the admissions office, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and friends in Orange County. Also, thanks to his wife, he's mastering the art of donut making.
