Alexa Abadee is excited to discover her full potential at Chapman University so she can make the world a better place. Hailing from Encino, a suburb of Los Angeles, Alexa also has Australian citizenship and can speak two languages. Alexa is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and hopes to one day become a Speech-Language Pathologist, assisting people with speech impediments. But Alexa didn’t need her IES degree to start helping those around her who are less fortunate. She’s been making a difference since high school as a member of the Assistance League of Southern California, a program that allowed her to provide services and resources for at-risk children and families. Chapman is the perfect environment for Alexa – the class sizes are just right, everyone is extremely helpful and there are clubs like the ASL Club and Chapman Democrats. Plus, leaving home isn’t so bad when your best friend Samantha is also coming to Chapman! When she’s not spending time with her family and two Labradors, Alexa enjoys swimming, drawing, baking and cooking. Let’s just hope she has enough ingredients for the rest of the Class of 2018.
