Hometown: Born in Dallas, Texas; raised in Broomfield, Colorado
Major: Dance with a double major in physics/computational science
Carolyn is looking forward to fully experiencing as much as she can in her four years at Chapman so that she’ll graduate prepared to balance a dual career in dance and science. She chose Chapman for several reasons, including its competitive dance program; its proximity to Los Angeles, the beach and Disneyland (she’s a total Disney fanatic); its size; the ability to double major; and the fact that Chapman offers generous scholarships. But most important, Carolyn loved the fact that Chapman has the feel of a classic big school without the complete anonymity of just being a number in a classroom. She also liked the feeling of belonging that she felt the first time she stepped on campus. Carolyn looks forward to being involved in everything possible during her time at Chapman, further expanding her current list of diverse hobbies and activities, which includes crocheting/knitting, slam poetry, writing, reading and singing. She also stays active through dance, yoga, skiing, horse-back riding, gymnastics and surfing, which she hopes to get better at while in California. This summer, Carolyn kept herself busy by participating in dance intensives, traveling, working, reading, and spending as much time with friends before leaving for college. Her advice for prospective students is that hard work and the habit of hard work are some of the most valuable traits to develop.
