Battle of the Law School Deans is On: Sept. 24
UCI Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky and Chapman Law Dean John Eastman Will Face Off in a Public Debate on the Chapman Campus in Orange

ORANGE, Calif., Sept. 15, 2009 –
They’re old rivals – and old friends. They’ve faced off against each other many a time at public events and as guests on Hugh Hewitt’s popular radio talk show.

Now, for the first time since the doors opened at UC Irvine’s new law school, the Chapman University School of Law will host UCI law dean Erwin Chemerinsky and his cross-town compatriot, Chapman School of Law dean John Eastman, in a debate billed as “The Battle of the Law Deans.”

The debate on the topic of constitutional interpretation will take place on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. in Memorial Hall on the Chapman University campus. For more information, the public can call 714-628-2526.

The debate is free and open to the public; however, because seating may be limited, you must register at www.chapman.edu/law/rsvp. The event counts as one free MCLE credit.

For his part, Eastman looks forward to the debate. “Chapman is delighted to be hosting the new class of students at UCI and their dean for what promises to be a stimulating exchange of ideas about constitutional interpretation,” he said. “The first in our ‘freeway series,’ we hope this is the beginning of many collaborative programs between the two schools.”

Chapman University is located at One University Drive in Orange, Calif. Parking is available in the structure underneath the Chapman football stadium (enter off Walnut Avenue), at $3 for four hours.
