Dean's Message

The George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics prepares individuals and organizations to achieve their intellectual and professional goals within a multidisciplinary framework to solve problems. The emphasis is on teaching and outreach reinforced through research from a dedicated faculty of teachers and scholars committed to excellence. Our students are challenged in academic programs that stress economics and the functional areas of business reinforced by analytical and behavioral skills within a pragmatic framework. The focus is on strategy and execution to maximize performance within an ethical framework. Diversity of opinion and thought are encouraged.

We prepare students for immediate entrance into the work place or further academic pursuits. Our centers and institutes create collaborative opportunities for students and faculty. We value this close partnership with the firms and organizations in the region. The sciences develop skills through laboratory experiments. Our students have a similar experience working with firms and organizations. Pragmatic skills are reinforced through faculty research and the practitioners who serve as guest lectures or adjunct faculty.

Entrepreneurship and ethics as well as written and oral communication skills are integrated throughout the curriculum along with elements of international business. We emphasize pragmatic skills and teamwork within a cross functional environment. Our programs stress career development and a positive learning environment along with leadership, creativity, and critical thinking.

The Argyros School explores new initiatives on a regular basis to meet the needs of the market. This cannot occur in a vacuum. We need active participation and support from the community to create that added margin of excellence to make a difference. Such commitments open doors provide opportunities for our students and faculty as well as providing the infrastructure to recruit and retain outstanding students and faculty.
