










Mike, an “OC” native and Chapman alumnus attended Laguna Beach schools prior to Chapman. He came up through the ranks in the Office of Admission after coming to work as a “rookie” admission counselor soon after graduating in 1974. During his 30-plus years at Chapman his professional network has become extensive, and he is highly visible in admission circles, serving WACAC and NACAC in various formal and ad hoc capacities. Mike and staff were the recipients of the 2002 WACAC Service Award. He supervises a staff of 30 and oversees undergraduate and graduate admission operations. His wife, Trish, is a Chapman alumna and their two children are current Chapman students. Mike’s counseling territories include Hawaii and Guam, and in California, the Santa Barbara and Ventura areas.
Marcela, a graduate of Loyola Marymount University, has more than 15 years of experience in both admission and financial aid at her alma mater and at Chapman. Recently promoted to director, Marcela will now supervise the admission counseling staff and admission committee process. Fluent in Spanish (her family hails from Colombia), her territory responsibility includes Latin America and all domestic Spanish-speaking constituencies. Her territory includes: Latin America.
Seaby brings 9 years of admission experience to our office. She joined our staff 4 years ago from The Buckley School in Los Angeles. Prior to Buckley, she served as the Assistant Dean of Admission at Occidental College. She is a graduate of Boston College and recently finished her Masters in Education in leadership and administration at Chapman. Seaby has lived in various places around the US but has her primary roots in Hawai’i and Oregon. Seaby oversees all international recruitment and admission efforts for undergraduate as well as graduate applicants to the University. Her travels for the university span the globe as we continually expand our outreach efforts to more countries. Seaby is currently on maternity leave.
Shannon has been working in the fields of admissions and student affairs for the past 10 years. She originally joined the Chapman staff in '97 and worked in undergraduate admissions with both high school and community college students. Shannon is a graduate of Chapman University and received her BA degree in Sociology in '97 and an MS in Human Resources in '02. Prior to attending Chapman, she completed her first two years of undergrade course work at Orange Coast College. Shannon is coming back to Chapman after spending three years working for the University of California, Irvine. We are fortunate to have her back with our team at Chapman University. Her territories include: coordination of all transfer student recruitment.
David graduated cum laude from Chapman in 2005 with a degree in film production from Chapman’s renowned Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. As a student, David engaged in a variety of campus activities and employment options including serving as a Chapman Ambassador, Orientation Coordinator, President of his Greek Orginization, Dodge College intern, and intern for the Admission Office. David was also recognized as a Student Leader and was honored with awards such as the Spirit of Chapman, and Student Leader of the Year. David grew up in Colorado and enjoys returning to the state during his fall travel. David's territories are Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and within California, Burbank, Glendale, La Canada, Pasadena, and the City of Orange.
Originally from Denver, Colorado, Armen graduated from Chapman in 2006 with a degree in business administration and is working on his Masters in Business Administration. While an undergraduate student, he was a captain for Chapman's lacrosse team. Currently he is an advisor for the men’s lacrosse team and the women’s team. His territories include Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and within California, the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, Santa Cruz and Monterrey. He is also traveling to the Middle East and Canada to work with international students.
Janine is a graduate of Whittier College. As a student she was an active member of Model United Nations, the Women’s Soccer Team, Pi Sigma Alpha, Hispanic Student Association, and President of the International Relations Club. Her self-designed major in Humanitarian Assistance found her a full-time Intern position with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in New York City during the fall of 2006. A native of southern California, she attended Pomona schools and Troy High School in Fullerton. Janine currently oversees the Host Program and is the liaison to Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her territories include: Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and in California, the Inland Empire, San Fernando Valley Area, Santa Ana schools, and parts of North Orange County.
Dena is a northwest native and 2005 graduate of the University of Washington, where she studied Communication and English. During her time as a student, Dena took on peer advising and mentoring roles with First Year Programs and the Center for Career Services, and was also active with her sorority and the Panhellenic Association. After graduating, Dena was employed with a recruiting firm in Seattle before moving to Spokane, WA. There, she joined the Eastern Washington University Office of Admissions, her last stop before moving to Orange County. Dena’s territories include Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, in California: northern California, Sacramento Valley, North San Diego County and North Orange County.
Amari is a San Francisco Bay Area native and a graduate of Tulane University, where he received a BA in Psychology in 2004. As an undergraduate student he was very involved in campus and student life as an Orientation Coordinator and peer advisor for First Year Programs in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Prior to joining Chapman, Amari worked as an Evaluator in the Office of Admission at California State University, East Bay and most recently as the Academic Affairs Coordinator at Alliant International University. He completed an MA in Education and Sociocultural Studies at California State University, Los Angeles in 2008. An A Better Chance, Inc. alumnus (The Urban School of San Francisco ’00), Amari oversees our multicultural outreach efforts and is the liaison to the Schmid College of Science. Amari's territories include North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Lousiana and in California: the Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Johnny is a Orange County native and alumnus of Loyola Marymount University and Chapman University. He also holds a Pupil Personnel Services Credential through the state of California. He recently spent three years working as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Leadership and Development at Loyola Marymount University, as well as the last year interning in the Counseling Offices at Corona del Mar High School and Costa Mesa High School respectively. Johnny's territories include Nevada, Minnesota, the Midwest, and in California, South Orange County, Palos Verde Area, Temecula, Murrieta, and South San Diego.
Becky is originally from New England and spent some time living in Germany and Indiana. She completed her undergrad degree in English Literature from DePauw University and a Masters of Education from Grand Valley State University. She has worked in the field of admissions for 5 years, with the last three focusing on international admission. Becky has recently joined Chapman’s staff and is responsible for working with international students and U.S. students abroad. Becky's territories include all foreign countries, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and boarding school liaison.
