Chapman continues to expand the diversity of its faculty, not only in terms of race and ethnicity but also with respect to the University's well-known reputation for scholarly diversity. The makeup of the law school faculty is truly unique among American law schools, with a balance of professors presenting ideas from the left, center and right. In recent years Chapman Law has added renowned permanent faculty members from across the ideological spectrum, including

*Legal ethics scholar Ronald Rotunda
*Holocaust expert Michael Bazyler
 
Visiting Professors range from prominent human rights scholar Richard Falk to former solicitor general and Pepperdine Law School Dean Kenneth Starr. 
 
In addition, faculty members have clerked at the Supreme Court of the United States, for the late Chief Justice William Rehnquist and Justice William Brennan, as well as for Justices Antonin Scalia, David Souter, and Clarence Thomas. 
 
Ongoing scholarly work produced by Chapman professors further reflects the school's diversity, with examples including:

Because of the makeup of Chapman's faculty, students are given an opportunity to challenge and be challenged in ways that are quite unusual in a law school setting.
