Biography in Brief
An Orange County native, Courtney transferred to Chapman University from an out-of-state school in 2007. She graduated from Chapman University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and a minor in Spanish. As a student, Courtney was involved in Greek Life and service clubs. Courtney became interested in the higher education world through her time as a student worker in the Office of Admission, and that passion has now grown into a career. She loves to travel and to meet new people. She could never imagine living away from the beach and hopes to someday settle in San Diego. She is so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the continued success of Chapman University and is excited to continue her time as a Panther!
Advice from Courtney
The student body at Chapman is very involved and excited about being at Chapman, and we want students to want to be on our campus. As an admission office, we are concerned with the right "fit” of student. When applying to any college it is very important to know what you are looking for. If possible, visit the campus and take a tour. You will get a good idea of what student life looks like, and see if you can picture yourself integrating into the campus. As admission counselors, we see a very limited scope of the students that apply, so try to display your personality as much as possible through your essay, fast facts, and personal statements. The college essay is one of the few places where your application becomes multi-dimensional, so take advantage of the opportunity to use it to your benefit
Courtney's favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is Memorial Lawn. It represents the beginnings of Chapman University, and it’s a great place to experience the sunshine that defines southern California. It is also a place where professors will take their students to conduct their classes and lots of other fun, on-campus activities take place.
Courtney's best admission memory
I absolutely have loved helping students through the admission process and seeing them committing to coming to Chapman for the next four years of their lives. There is a sense of pride and excitement that comes with working with students throughout the application process and then having them tell you how excited they are to receive their acceptance packet. It is definitely the most fulfilling part of my job. I can’t wait to see those students graduate from Chapman, and then that will probably become my best admission memory.
