The size makes it easy to stay connected and meet new people, and the faculty truly care about their students and interact with them on a personal level. Excitement, New Friends, Inclusive, Comforting

What makes Chapman University unique to you?
Chapman University has given me the opportunity to grow as an individual and find out who I truly am. I took a GE course in food science and ended up loving it so much so that the professor took notice and encouraged me to add a minor in nutrition. I have also become involved in business clubs, tennis, and even yoga on Monday nights. And to add to it, the lifestyle is unbeatable. My weekends consist of doing homework by the pool, going to Disneyland, or surfing at the beach that is fifteen minutes away.

Share an interesting fact about yourself:
In middle school I went to Las Vegas with my family. I was so excited to be there that I immediately threw on my swimsuit and ran down to the pool. Thousands of dollars later, I now have a fake tooth.

College is not as intimidating as the movies make it seem (well.. at least at Chapman). Professors do all they can to help you succeed and get the best grades possible. Also Chapman has counselors to help you figure out all of your classes, prepare you for interviews, and even lead you into great jobs. Also college is the first time in school where you can be you and figure out who you are without worrying about what the "cool" kids are doing.

What makes Chapman University unique to you?
Chapman is a very unique school that specializes in so many different areas of expertise. We are not dominated entirely by sports, arts, or Greek life. Instead, every niche within Chapman is equally important to the core values of our University. For me, it's the perfect size and the perfect community. One where I can have relationships with my classmates, professors and the campus as a whole. I can't imagine being anywhere else.

Chapman is my home away from home. -Such a huge variety of clubs, activities and groups to get involved in on campus, with a lot of leadership opportunities within them
-Incredible residential life, the dorms are very social and provide a great way to make new friends
-The pool near the dorms. Tanning between classes, need I say more?

As a new student, I wish I knew that what I get out of this new experience depends on how much I put into it. I was kind of shy and reserved first coming into Chapman because I didn't know anyone, and it took a while for me to feel comfortable because of it. But once I opened myself up, started meeting new people, and joining in on activities and with groups on campus, I was able to have the most incredible freshman year (and 2 years following) possible. A positive attitude and open mind can really get you far!

When I was 10, I used to curse the world for making the slots of my quarter collecting book so small. Then I found the book again at 17 and realized it was actually made for stretched coins. All those tormenting hours and thumb sores.

Share something you wish you knew, but did not know, as a new student:
Don't worry about reinventing yourself. I saw college as a chance to start fresh and be someone new, until I realized that college is actually the chance to strengthen the person you already are. Meet as many friends as you can, join clubs and groups that interest and motivate you, and shine. You learn a whole lot when you open a textbook or even a Netflix account, but you learn a whole lot more the second you close it to tell everyone else what you read or saw.

I love that as a science major, we have the opportunity to work with the most incredible professors who have experience in all these different fields of science. Getting to study cadavers in an anatomy lab and practice real life medical applications in physiology makes me appreciate Chapman that much more. Some of my friends at other private schools do not get this experience, so I know that Chapman is definitely preparing me for medical school and my future career.

What makes Chapman University unique to you?
I have lived in the same town my entire life and gone to the same school district with the same people since I was 5, but Chapman is the first school I have ever attended where I actually feel at home. Chapman places a big emphasis on diversity, but it is not just a statement. I love that I can take academic courses about gender identities and different ethnicities to make myself more aware and more of a cultured person. I love even more that every identity and diversity is so accepted on this campus. Chapman is not just a place where I learn through academics; I am constantly furthered in my knowledge of life by my peers and fellow students.

Chapman is honestly one big family. As a student at this University, I have never felt alone. This school provides the opportunity to work and be friends with many different types of people who are ALL extremely well-rounded. Something about the environment within Chapman encourages students to be try a little bit of everything and become very involved with the University community. There is also the added bonus that your professors, and classmates, actually remember your name! I am a transfer student, and did not find these qualities at my previous school. Chapman is one of a kind!

What makes Chapman University unique to you?
Chapman is my second home. As someone who moves around a lot, Chapman is a constant place I've called home for the past three years. What makes Chapman unique is family feeling that you experience from the faculty and students when you step onto this campus. I've had so many opportunities at Chapman, academic and social, because of the connections I've made and I feel confident that I chose the right place to call home.

Chapman has a tighter community than any other campus I've been to. It's okay to be unsure of what you want after you graduate. When I started at Chapman I had the perfect plan. When I didn't stick to that plan I had some ambivalence about the path I would follow. As a senior, I'm still not certain what my career will be; there are a lot of options and areas or interest I hope to pursue. Chapman has helped me identify strengths and passions and given me the tools to move forward. I wish I had known that it's okay to not have everything figured out- that's what college is for!

Chapman is unique to me because the relationships that students build with their professors are deeper than just the typical teacher-student dynamic. I wish I understood that I could start forming meaningful relationships with my professors from the beginning. They are amazing mentors that can guide you and offer insider advice about the field you are interested in. I wish I had gone in sooner to talk to them and ask questions about their own experiences. They ultimately care about your future and are great help when you are trying to figure out your college experience. Start talking to them as soon as you can!

Share an interesting fact about yourself:
Coming from a small town in Colorado, I love all things outdoors: hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, fly fishing, archery, downhill long boarding, and especially street luge. Although I can't do as much in Southern California, Dodge College makes up for it!

Share something you wish you knew, but did not know, as a new student:
When you get to school, there are so many things available to buy around campus that you could spend too much without thinking about it. I wish that I knew how awesome the cafeteria's food really is!

Chapman University is unique to me due to the amount of friendship and support that you receive from your peers and faculty members. This is truly a place where your dreams come to life, through cultivation and collaboration; no goal is too high to obtain. What makes Chapman University unique to you?
Chapman University is unique because the moment you arrive on campus, the sense of community is tangible. The Chapman community is comprised of such well-rounded and diverse individuals, who strive to establish meaningful relationships and achieve success. The professors and administration are extremely approachable and always want to see students excel, whether it be at it Chapman or beyond the university.

Share an interesting fact about yourself:
I absolutely love puns. I don't remember what spurred my obsession, but by the end of my senior year in high school, I was able to incorporate a pun into almost every conversation. For one of my final projects, in my International Baccalaureate 20th Century Topics course, I actually made a presentation on The History of Puns.

Share something you wish you knew, but did not know, as a new student:
I wish I realized that every new student was dealing with the excitement and anxiety of adapting to a new environment. Everyone wants to find their niche within the Chapman community and establish friendships early on, and initially it may seem intimidating. As the year progressed, I found that getting involved on-campus was the best way to make friends and that relationships arise as you adventure outside of your comfort zone.

The beginning of it all!

What makes Chapman University unique to you?
I committed to Chapman in the middle of June without ever having visited the campus. It was one of the riskiest decisions I have ever made and I do not regret it one bit. Coming to Chapman has provided the opportunity to become independent, test my limits, and discover who I am in ways I would not have been able to, had I attended a school back home in the Midwest.

Share an interesting fact about yourself:
When I was ten, I sang "We're All in This Together" from High School Musical on the local news!

Share something you wish you knew, but did not know, as a new student:
I wish I knew all the cafeteria secrets! Like getting chicken and putting that in a sandwich instead of the lunch meat, ordering buttered noodles, or most importantly, putting cookies into the toaster for freshly-baked happiness.
