Advice from Katie
Having worked as an undergraduate admission counselor and high school college counselor, I’ve found that no two needs are exactly the same. Finding the right fit college or university is imperative. Research all aspects of the schools to which you are applying and make sure that the school is a fit for you academically, personally, socially, spiritually, and more.
In terms of the college application process: “There is a story behind every face.” So please, make sure to tell us your personal story!
Katie’s Favorite Spot on Campus
The Skaggs Solar Fountain in the Fish Interfaith Center. It is an absolutely beautiful sight to walk through the front doors and see the fountain at the end of the hallway. I love to sit on the bench inside the Chapel and watch the water flow over the solar disk. The Fish Interfaith Center is an amazing place to reflect and meditate.
Katie’s Best Admission Memory
Handing the first official admission letter to an admitted senior in the Chapman University Class of 2015. Then, as a high school college counselor, helping a senior work through the admission process at Chapman and receiving her admission letter on my birthday the following year. The two girls are now really close friends at Chapman and roommates! It is an amazing feeling to help students on both sides of the desk achieve their dream of becoming Chapman students.
