Advice from Grant
RELAX! I can’t stress this enough. This applies not only to applying to colleges but also life in general. Worrying yourself into a stupor won’t increase your chances of getting into college. Read the instructions, be aware of timelines, and take the time to collect yourself and process all the information before you jump into it. BREATHE!
Favorite spot on campus
Memorial Stage. I wasn’t a theatre major during my time at Chapman but I spent a great deal of time on that stage. In between Gamma Phi Beta’s dance show-Airbands, Alpha Phi’s male beauty pageant- Mr. University, Greek Skit Night and Freshman Orientation, some of my best memories reside in Memorial Hall doing what I love to do- being ridiculous!
Best admission memory
Before working as an admission counselor I spent a great deal of my undergraduate career at Chapman giving campus tours so I have been fortunate enough to be a part of this amazing team for several years now. Some of my best memories stem from being a tour guide and sharing my passion for Chapman with prospective students. I also love it when it’s someone’s birthday in the Admissions office because then we get cake. AND I LOVE CAKE!
Best college memory
During my sophomore year a group of friends and I decided to enter into Gamma Phi Beta’s annual Airbands competition on a whim after listening to ‘The Newsies’ Soundtrack. A good friend of mine and I stayed up every night choreographing the dance and teaching it to our ‘less-than-coordinated’ friends. Two and half grueling weeks later we were ready for the big night. Performing that on stage in front of everyone was unlike any experience I’d ever had. We clearly weren’t the best dancers or the most coordinated people ever, but we put everything into it. I have yet to be as surprised by anything as I was that very night when, after our performance, the MCs of the event announced that, out of everyone who had entered, we had won. It is a memory I will carry with me forever.
