»Laura Roosevelt: Friendly Leader

Hometown: Englewood, Colorado

Major: Undecided (considering Sociology with a minor in Spanish)

Laura Roosevelt is a friendly leader who cares about others and is passionate about upholding commitments. She's lived in Colorado her entire life but has always wanted to move to California, so Chapman provided her everything she was looking for in a college: a great location, the perfect size and an array of personalized academic offerings. And considering that  Laura's hobbies include photography, yoga, tennis and skiing, Chapman University being located in Southern California made it the perfect fit for her. From Chapman, Laura hopes to learn how to think for herself and grow as a person into a confident young woman who can take on any job with ease. With her Chapman degree, Laura plans to pursue a career at a nonprofit in California, Colorado, New York City or somewhere abroad. This summer, Laura is already showing her commitment to Chapman's Four Pillars (mind, body, community and spirit) by spending a month living in Mexico where she'll go to language school and learn how to surf. And while she's leaving behind her two cats and three chickens when she starts at Chapman in the fall, Laura already has three friends here, including a girl she's gone to school with since kindergarten. It's these lifelong connections and spirit that Laura has been building on since her first visit to campus last year during Discover Chapman Day and getting to watch a Panther football game in which we beat La Verne, which is still her favorite Chapman moment—other than being accepted.
