Executive Vice President for University Advancement, Marketing and Communications Sheryl A. Bourgeois, Ph.D. has worn many hats since coming to Chapman in 1998, including director of special events, director of corporate relations and associate vice president of university advancement.
She has overseen the most successful fund-raising campaigns in Chapman’s history – increasing the university’s endowment by 41 percent and re-structuring the advancement division resulting in a more comprehensive major and annual giving effort, and a more robust alumni and parent relations program. Annually, she and her advancement team generate, on average, close to $40 million in new gifts and pledges to support university initiatives.
Sheryl earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from UCLA and holds a master’s degree in education and a Ph.D in education, both from Claremont Graduate University’s (CGU) School of Educational Studies.
Sheryl has served on the Orange Chamber of Commerce Board of directors, as a member of Orange’s Economic Development Partnership Advisory Council, and on the executive board of the Cordelia Knott Center for Wellness in Santa Ana. She is currently a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP) and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
