Nina LeNoir, Ph.D.
Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education
Nina LeNoir joined the Chapman community in 2009. She works with academic programs and initiatives that cut across the university, including General Education, Freshman Foundations Classes (FFC), Honors Program, Academic Advising, Undergraduate Research, Promising Futures, and the Tutoring, Learning and Testing Center. She completed her M.F.A. and Ph.D. in Theatre History/Criticism at The University of Texas at Austin and has been a faculty member at Bradley University and Minnesota State University, Mankato. She also served as Director of Instruction and Interim President at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Los Angeles. She is a professional theatre director and has directed over 50 productions at professional and educational theatres. She has published articles on theatre in cyberspace, audience interaction and dramaturgy. She was awarded the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Award for Excellence in Theatre Education. At Chapman she teaches FFC and theatre classes.
Glenn Pfeiffer, Ph.D.
Vice Chancellor for Academic Administration
Warren and Doris Uehlinger Endowed Professorship in Business. Glenn M. Pfeiffer received his M.S. in Finance and Ph.D. in Accounting from Cornell University after he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hope College. Prior to joining the faculty at the Argyros School, he held faculty appointments at the University of Washington, Cornell University, the University of Chicago, the University of Arizona, and San Diego State University. Professor Pfeiffer's research focuses on financial reporting and capital markets. He has investigated issues relating to lease accounting, LIFO inventory liquidation, earnings per share, employee stock options, corporate reorganization, and technology investments. He has published articles in The Accounting Review, the Financial Analysts Journal, the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, the Journal of Applied Business Research, the Journal of High Technology Management Research, the Journal of Accounting Education, and several other academic journals. In addition, he has published a financial accounting textbook, an accounting casebook, and numerous case studies in financial accounting and reporting. Professor Pfeiffer teaches financial accounting and financial analysis to undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA students. He has also taught managerial accounting for MBAs. He has won several teaching awards at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Richard Redding, J.D., Ph.D.
Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education
Dr. Redding is the Wang-Fradkin Professor of Law and Psychology. Previously, he served as Associate Dean at the School of Law. Prior to joining Chapman in 2008, he had been a professor at Villanova University, Drexel University, and the University of Virginia. He received his PhD in psychology from the University of Virginia and law degree from Washington and Lee University. Dr. Redding has published widely in leading scientific and legal journals, has co-authored or co-edited four books, serves on the editorial boards of five peer-reviewed journals, and is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, and the American Bar Foundation. His research focuses on forensic issues in criminal law and juvenile justice, the use of social science research in law and public policy and the ways in which social and political attitudes influence how science is used in policy making, the role of sociopolitical attitudes in diversity and interpersonal and professional functioning, and legal education.
Joseph Slowensky, M.F.A.
Vice Chancellor for Institutional Effectiveness and Faculty Affairs
Joe Slowensky joined the Chancellor’s Office in 2009 after serving for seven years as Chair of the Film Division and Graduate Conservatory of Motion Pictures in Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Slowensky oversees Chapman’s institutional effectiveness efforts through assessment and program review as the university’s Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO). He also supervises faculty processes for hiring, contracts, tenure and promotion, and annual review. Slowensky is a member of the Writers Guild of America, West, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Writer’s Peer Group, where he’s a voting juror for the annual prime-time Emmy Awards. He has written movies-of-the-week for ABC, the Disney Channel, and CBS. Slowensky received his MFA from USC’s School of Cinema-Television and a BS in Radio-TV-Film Communication from the University of Texas at Austin. As a Professor of Film and Media Arts, Slowensky teaches courses in screenwriting and film production.
Iris Gerbasi, M.A.
Ms. Gerbasi began teaching theatre in Chapman’s Communications Department in 1982. Before joining the Chancellor’s office in 2007 she was Associate Dean of the School of Communication Arts for many years. For 20 years she served as tournament director for the Henry Kemp-Blair Annual Shakespeare Tournament. She was on the producing team for American Celebration from 1984-2005, most recently serving as executive producer. Ms. Gerbasi has a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in media production and a M.A. in English with a concentration in media writing. As Assistant Chancellor she reviews academic appeals, new and revised courses, and changes in the annual catalogs as well as communicates with faculty and staff on a number of academic deadlines.
Marisol Arredondo Samson, Ph.D.
Director of Institutional Research
Dr. Arredondo Samson came to Chapman from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where she served as a research associate in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. She was the principal investigator for that institution's Campus Climate Survey project, was involved in the preparation of their accreditation self-study report, and worked to develop several campus-wide surveys. Before arriving at CSU Pomona, she was at the nationally recognized Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA. Dr. Arredondo Samson holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education and Organizational Change, a M.A. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in counseling, and a B.A. in Psychology--all from the University of California, Los Angeles. She currently works with "Achieving the Dream," a multiyear national initiative to help community college students succeed.
Eileen Besner, M.S.
Director of Faculty Affairs
Eileen Besner joined Chapman in 2008. As director she supports faculty processes for hiring, tenure and promotion, annual evaluations, and faculty development. She completed her Masters in Human Resource Management at Chapman University and holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Eileen works closely with faculty and faculty governance. She also oversees the operation of the Marvin W. Meyer Faculty Athenaeum which serves as a center for faculty discussion and collegial support.
Roberto Coronel, B.A.
Director of Academic Advising
Roberto began at Chapman in 2010. As Director, Roberto oversees the undergraduate academic advising services provided by the Academic Advising Center. Prior to coming to Chapman, he served as the Assistant Director of the Academic Advising Center and Coordinator of Academic Probation and Disqualification Services at CSU Fullerton. Additionally, he served as Assistant Director of the Student Access to Science Center at CSU Long Beach, and as the Associate Director of the Mesa Engineering Program (MEP) and the Mesa Schools Program (MSP) at CSU Fresno.
Ellen Curtis-Pierce, Ph.D.
Director of Extended Education
Dr. Curtis-Pierce joined the Chancellor’s Office in 2002. She has served in a variety of professional roles during her tenure at Chapman University including Assistant Provost for Teacher Education, Associate Chancellor for Teacher Education and Faculty Development and currently as the Director of the Office of Extended Education. Dr. Curtis-Pierce has been in higher education for over 35 years and has held positions as Dean of a College/School of Education for over ten years at three different universities as well as served as the Associate Vice-Chancellor for Professional Accreditation and Faculty Development and Interim Dean of Education at Brandman University in its inception. She was a tenured Full Professor of Special Education at Cal Poly University-Pomona for over 10 years early in her academic career and served with and was a Commissioner on the Committee on Accreditation (COA) for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing for many years. She received her Ph.D. from Texas Woman’s University and her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from UCLA.
Roxanne Greitz Miller, Ed.D.
Interim Director, Institute for Excellence in Teaching and Learning
Dr. Roxanne Greitz Miller joined Chapman in 2005 and the Office of the Chancellor in 2015 as Interim Director of the Institute for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (IETL), where she coordinates the Institute's professional development activities for all Chapman faculty, leads the IETL Advisory Board of faculty from across all academic disciplines, and provides consultative services for academic units and individual faculty. Dr. Miller holds the Donna Ford Attallah Endowed Professorship in Teacher Education with appointments to the College of Educational Studies and Schmid College of Science and Technology. With $3.2 million in external grant funding from 2005 to present, Dr. Miller's research centers on effective K-12 school practice and school communication. Prior to her service in the Office of the Chancellor, Dr. Miller was Assistant Dean in the College of Educational Studies and President of the Chapman Faculty Senate, as well as the recipient of the 2014-2016 Outstanding Teaching Professorship, Chapman's highest honor for teaching excellence. She teaches courses in educational studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Eileen Jankowski, Ph.D.
Director of Scholarships and Scholars’ Programs
Eileen Jankowski earned her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, and holds a B.A. in History from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. She joined the Chancellor’s staff in 2012 as the Director of Fellowships and Scholars’ Programs, helping students apply for prestigious national awards such as the Fulbright, Truman, Marshall, and Goldwater scholarships. While celebrating winning Chapman students, Dr. Jankowski is especially proud of the fact that students benefit greatly whether chosen or not since the enlightenment they gain from the process translates into solid skills they will employ on graduate and job applications in the future. Dr. Jankowski joined Chapman in 1994 as Assistant Professor in the English Department and continues to teach and publish in the area of Medieval literature, particularly the Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. She also enjoys teaching British Literature; World Literature; Greek mythology in her Freshman Foundations course; and the multidisciplinary Humanities course, “Cities and Civilization.”
Anna Leahy, Ph.D.
Director, Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity
Professor Anna Leahy, Ph.D., is Director, Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity and an Associate Professor in Department of English, Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Anna Leahy's book Constituents of Matter won the Wick Poetry Prize. Her poetry and nonfiction appear widely in anthologies and journals, including Crab Orchard Review, Cream City Review, The Journal, and The Southern Review. Her essay in The Pinch was a Notable in The Best American Essay 2013. She teaches in the MFA and BFA programs, curates the Tabula Poetica reading series, and edits TAB: The Journal of Poetry & Poetics. Erin McGinnis Pullin
Assistant Director of Diversity & Inclusion
Erin Pullin came to Chapman in 2008 and joined the Office of the Chancellor in 2015 as Assistant Director of Diversity and Inclusion. She coordinates the Chapman Diversity Project, a large-scale institutional initiative focused on enhancing the campus climate and serves as a resource for the campus community in regard to diversity and inclusion. Collaborating with numerous students, staff, faculty, administrators, alumni and trustees, Erin works with the Chapman Diversity Project to implement recommendations made by each group in the Spring of 2015. Erin completed her B.A. at the University of California, Santa Barbara in Women's Studies and her M.S. in Organization Development & Change from American University, Washington D.C. Erin is an adjunct faculty member in the Leadership Studies Program in the College of Educational Studies and formerly served as Assistant Director for Cross-Cultural Engagement within Student Affairs. Her consulting background has focused primarily on strategic planning, training and development, curriculum design, and diversity education with clients including Oregon State University, CSU Los Angeles, the California Conference for Equality & Justice, Just Communities, the University of Vermont, Vermont Network Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, Edmunds Elementary School in Vermont and the Vermont Children’s Aid Society.
