Biography

Jay Adams is an accomplished screenwriter with an extensive background in the film and television industry. He has developed and written feature and TV scripts at esteemed production companies such as Hartbeat Productions, Davis Entertainment, Fox 21, and Sony Pictures, and has created two short-form horror series for Jason Blum and Eli Roth's Crypt TV.

 

Adams has several projects in development and is actively working on a variety of new feature and pilot scripts. His personal and award-winning pilot script Downward Departure, inspired by his experiences, was sold to Participant, and his award-winning pilot script Midnight City received solid attention for its authentic and well-researched depiction of San Francisco’s LGBTQ+ community during the 1960s. 

 

He started his career as a music video producer, editor, and director, collaborating with bands such as Rancid (Hellcat Records) and The Dandy Warhols (Beat the World Records). He also worked as a local news writer for the NBC affiliate in San Diego. 

 

Adams earned his BFA in film and television production from The Academy of Art University in San Francisco and his MFA in screenwriting from Chapman University. 

 

In addition to his writing career, Adams mentors and volunteers with a handful of prisons, juvenile halls, and rehabilitation programs.
